Sourcing is all natural = we source a little part from forests which are well managed thanks to our activity. The waste paper is selected very thoroughly providing the best and efficient quality to our cartonboards. To give an example, the production of mechanical pulp at Djupafors mill is based on the use of wood logs while at La Rochette, its pulp is produced from wood chips, by-products of saw mills.
Core activity is 100% sustainable = we transform natural resources for economic use in a continuous cycle: virgin fibers contribute to start this virtuous process and the recycled fibers are re-used many times. All fibers are 100% recyclable and we offer a 100% mono component product to our customers, especially when it comes to barrier board (against plastic packaging solution)
Energy savings are our day to day issue = we focus on energy management to achieve the best practices in the industry; the vapour is produced thanks to forest by-products and the electricity comes from hydropower and waterfalls like at Djupafors (certified PFE, Swedish Programme for improving energy efficiency in energy-intensive industries).
Water is managed and offered back to environment = the cartonboard mill is a great user of water to create the best board for the folding industry. We reduced drastically the water consumption which was cut by more than 3 times since the last decade.
Innovation in technology as the key performance = continuous improvement led us to work on highly technological solutions; as an example the ultra filtration for the treatment of effluents containing the coating at Blendecques.
Logistics is a key-value = we source from the nearest area around our mills (100-200 km) and we deliver at the nearest customer’s converting site.
Recognition is our motivation = FSC® or PEFC and even the very famous climate declaration, based on CO2, as EPD (Environmental Products Declarations) is our claim to demonstrate how efficient we are in this field. The overall goal of the EPD system, is to give a fair comparison of products and services. Several types of gas should be taken into consideration such as carbon dioxide, methane and laughing gas. The emissions of the production cycle concern for example the acquisition of raw material, refinement, production, recycling, waste handling and transportation. EPDs are based on principles inherent to ISO 14025 giving them a wide-spread international acceptance. The Djupafors mill is EPD certified. Apart from this, our main mill certifications are ISO 9001, 14001, EMAS or OSHAS.
